Random

I didn't invent these, but I think they are a great idea. You take food and personal comfort items, even a few bucks if you want, and bag it up, and stash them in your car. When you run into folks on the street looking for help, you gift them with these. The scammers will look at you like you handed them a rat, but the truly needy appreciate them.

And, late this afternoon...

MEH**2 = MEH squared, basically...

I tried Chipotle for the first, and probably last, time today.  My reaction is perfectly captured by the picture above.  I don't get why anyone within 10 miles of a Moe's would bother with Chipotle.

Limited time only

My almost 7 month old kitten is experiencing her first Spring, including barn swallows nesting on the front porch.  And the look on her face, as she sits there and watches them through the sidelights, is seriously priceless!

Gratitude

Take a kitten who has been in one of those post surgical cones for several days, and scratch her around the head and ears everywhere she can't scratch, and watch the reaction.  That, my friends, is gratitude.

There isn't enough of that going around...

Spoiled stray, now a family member...

This gorgeous young lady was spayed on Monday, and she had been such a good girl about her stitches until this afternoon. But then, she decided that they were something to chew on, and she got a couple of them out before I figured out what was going on.

It was too early to remove them, so she got another trip to the V_E_T this evening, and that got all fixed back up. She also got an early Christmas gift, the new bonnet she is wearing in this picture.

College Football

Let's hear it for Saturday, especially this time of the year. Saturday is usually spent over at someone's house browsing a feast you contributed to, drinking beer, and then shots, and watching outstanding football games.

This Saturday was particularly intense, since UGA was playing LSU [BOO!] for the SEC Championship. We had fans from both sides gathered there, and the group was friendly, despite the team rivalries.

When I drug over the ribs I had going on the smoker in my back yard after that game, and before the next one started, I'm not sure anyone even remembered anything except "OMG, these ribs!"

I wasn't happy with them. The were better than you can buy, but less than I can do. Go figure. Anyway...

This, by the way, is how to spend a late fall Saturday afternoon into evening.

Eggs

So I live in this pretty nice subdivision, and everything is brick and looks like some kind of Christmas cottage, and people here have really nice houses, and manicured lawns, and it is pretty much the upper middle class ideal.  People leave their keys on the floorboard of their cars, nobody locks their house, and, well, welcome to how things used to be.

But, eggs..?

So the area I live in abuts some very different territory.  Homes built in what was once a *very* rural area, back in the 50's.  They are mostly brick, all ranches, and I date them based on the lack of garages.  They typically have carports.  And they are set on several acres of land.  That is what surrounds where I live, outside of woods.

One house on the road, after the road out of my subdivision, is very much like that, but it has a sign out advertising fresh eggs.  Neighborhood chit-chat rumored those eggs as extraordinary.

I stopped in there Wednesday, but nobody was home except for the huge and aggressive dog that was hitting the window after I rang the doorbell.  Today, someone was home.

They were one short of a dozen and discounted it by 0.25, but I had to give it a try.  From the neighborhood scuttlebutt, these are sold about as fast as they are laid.  I could've gotten a round dozen if I waited a bit, but whatever.

Fresh eggs!!!  This is stuff you can't buy at the grocery store...  I've never had anything quite like it.
