First off, this isn't meant to be an advertisement. Instead, I'm just turning cartwheels over there finally, potentially being a good Tex Mex restaurant here! Tex Mex in the ATL is mostly something that I, having lived in Texas for almost 20 years, have found to be unrecognizable and horrible. It's like the zombie version of Tex Mex, with dishes named things like Speedy Gonzales, and a lot of horrible American cheese in the queso.
But I was bopping around on UrbanSpoon looking for new places today, and saw where someone mentioned there is now a Chuy's in ATL. And It was kinda like a mini version of Christmas and my birthday, all in one!
Chuy's calls themselves "Tex Mex", but it would be more accurate to say their food is *heavily* influenced by New Mexican cuisine. A lot of their food is actually made using Hatch green chile! And they do other things, like the Baja Tacos with jalapeno ranch sauce, that are just astounding.
I already have lunch plans with friends this afternoon, so I won't be going there today. But once I do, and presupposing it lives up to the ones I've eaten at in Austin and Houston, I'll update this post with my own review. Long story short, the ATL may finally have a decent Tex Mex [sorta] restaurant!
