A pretty fair assessment of what happened in the ATL yesterday

1)  Weather forecast kept saying the metro was going to get a dusting, and people relied on that, and dialed in a normal day.

2)  The weather forecast was wrong.

3)  People realized the forecast was wrong around 1:00 PM, give or take half an hour, since more than a dusting is already hitting.

4)  Schools all do unexpected early dismissal, and people start scrambling to get back home to meet their tots, or to go pick 'em up at school.

5)  People clog the roads because of #4.  Kids aside, government and private sector employers blow the panic whistle, and tons of people are excused early and add to the congestion.

6)  Roads are clogged, and the folks charged with clearing them have zero access to actually do so.

7)  The roads in the ATL end up looking like something out of TWD.

8)  The population collectively blames politicians for not clearing roads that were so choked with cars, a rabbit couldn't run up them even if a coyote was chasing it.

The ATL usually responds, after adverse weather, by hoarding gasoline and running local gas stations dry, causing further unnecessary panic.  I hope we can skip that this time.

Wednesday Evening Quotes

“Why do we hold onto negativity? For some reason, we believe that others are affected by our experience of remaining upset, hurt or angry. Holding on to pain, anger, guilt or shame is the glue that binds us to the situation we want to escape.”

--Iyanla Vanzant

“… I came to realize that the object of life is not prosperity, as we are made to believe, but the maturity of the human soul.”

--Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

“Ways in which we fail to tell the truth: flattery, exaggeration, blaming, complaining, justifying oneself, cheating, making excuses, self-deception; being fake, false, or pretentious; not keeping a confidence, hiding, lacking transparency, insincerity, infidelity, plagiarism, and inauthenticity… Failure to tell the truth to ourselves is one of the most interesting forms of lying.”

--Roshi Nancy Mujo Baker
