Place is nice, but it is kinda like a stamped out version of Chuy's from Houston or Austin. It hits the high notes, but has too much spit and polish. Chuy's in TX has this dive character that the one here lacks.
Service was fantastic. I was seated at a table in the Chihuahua bar [that is a Chuy's thing], and both my waitress and the bartender orbited by regularly.
Food was a mixed bag.
The tortilla chips were perfect - not greasy, not stale, thin, warm, awesome!
The salsa had too much of something in it, and I was thinking maybe they adjusted it for the ATL, or was just a bad batch? Sour banana flavor to it.
The queso compuesto was bueno!
The baja tacos were served wrapped in foil. Seriously?!? They were good though, but the flour tortillas were not something that would fly in TX. You can buy freshly made, seriously good and still warm tortillas at the supermarket in TX. These were dry, broke when folded, and just didn't measure up.
They nailed the jalapeno ranch sauce, though. If you go there and go for the baja tacos, ask for a side of it because you will want to pour it all inside the tacos before you eat them.
The green chile rice was quite nice. If you are used to Spanish rice, shame on you and try this instead.
I'm going back there next week for a test drive of the green chili enchiladas, and will update...
